This third week of Advent, we will celebrate JOY with the lighting of the "joy candle".
Otherwise known as the Shepherd Candle, this candle reflects the joy that comes through Jesus’ arrival, and through the salvation he has gifted us.
Instead of the purple or violet candles, this week the color of the candle is pink.
Check out this great video produced by "Bible Project".
It gives a great breakdown of each week of the Advent and some extra material to help your understanding.
Use this video, the study points below, and our weekly action plan to help you take JOY to your family and friends.
Verse 10: When they saw the star, they were overwhelmed with joy.
*The wise men experienced JOY as they witnessed His word revealed.
This moment was foretold in Numbers 24:17 by the prophet Balaam. He states that this person of whom I am now prophesying does not exist and will not in this generation. He is known for his wisdom, strength and power. He shall slay the princes of Moab and rule over all the children of men.
What promise in God's word are you standing on... where can you see the evidence of His goodness during this journey?
*The wise men experienced JOY as they searched and found Jesus.
The wise men saw the star and CONTINUED TO SEARCH! The wise men braved harsh traveling conditions, the threats of men (their own king and King Herod), and paid a personal price to SEE the King of the Jews for themselves.
What does your personal SEARCH look like as you strive to see and know the king personally?
*The wise men experienced JOY because their hearts were humble and this caused them to respond with WORSHIP.
The wise men fell to their knees and worshipped Jesus. Their heart posture was evident in their response...
What is the condition of your heart? Do you respond to our Lord with a humble and soft heart of worship acknowledging WHO he is?
*The wise men experienced JOY and it caused them to give. These gifts were prophetic but also costly...
They gave~ Their response was to give.
What can you give this season.... and this coming year in response to who Jesus is to you?
When we love and honor, it is a natural response to give...
